The Oerlikon Bührle Areal is an administration building in Seebach, Zurich, which had its heyday in the 1970s. After a period of being vacant, the building was resurrected with the premise of being rented out to small and medium-sized companies. Given the structure’s former use as place for tool and weapons production, the property was given the tongue-in-cheek name “Love, Peace and Happiness”. In order to kick off the renovation, the administration department of Fischer AG Immobilienmanagement called for bids for signage and artwork for the construction. Renato Soldenhoff (Curious About) and the visual designer Conny Capri formed a team and together they won and implemented the project “Merging Spaces”. Each of the three building wings was assigned a color and a subject from the title concept. Colored lines guide visitors from the entrances into the respective wings, and interior areas are designated in a playful way using colored keywords.
