WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, newly-confirmed U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Gina McCarthy will be in Cambridge, MA to deliver remarks at Harvard Law School. This will be her first public speech since being confirmed as EPA Administrator by the U.S. Senate. McCarthy will discuss her vision for the EPA and challenges the Agency will face going forward. She will also highlight her commitment to carrying out President Obama’s Climate Action Plan to reduce carbon pollution and address the impacts of climate change. Prior to being named Administrator, McCarthy served as the Assistant Administrator for EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation. She has been a leading advocate for common-sense strategies to protect public health and the environment. Previously, McCarthy served as the Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection. During her career, which spans nearly 30 years, McCarthy has worked at both the state and local levels on critical environmental issues and helped coordinate policies on economic growth, energy, transportation and the environment.This event is co-hosted by Harvard Law School’s Environmental Law Program (ELP).
