P2 Week is held during the 3rd week in September each year and provides an opportunity for individuals, businesses and government to highlight their P2 and environmental sustainability activities and achievements, expand current P2 efforts and commit to new actions. Pollution Prevention (P2) is recognized as an effective tool for protecting the environment and the economy by eliminating pollution at the source before it is generated.
This year’s theme, Preventing Pollution at its Source – Right from the Start, celebrates 25 years since the creation of the Pollution Prevention Act in 1990. P2 Week embodies a national effort to connect the environment, energy, and the economy through topics such as green engineering, green products, green chemistry, and energy management systems. Using these tools in all sectors, including government, business, industry, nongovernmental organizations, as well as the general public will lower costs, improve processes, and promote green jobs.
